As we reach the end of our second month as custodians of Bit by Bit, it feels like the right moment to pause and look back at the steady, meaningful momentum that has carried us through these past few weeks. Month one was all about settling in, learning the heartbeat of the brand, and finding our rhythm. Month two has been about leaning into that rhythm - building partnerships, releasing new products, connecting with community, and weaving Bit by Bit more deeply into our everyday lives.

We welcomed winter with the release of our new Spearmint + Eucalyptus Bubble Bath, a scent crafted for slow evenings and warm rituals. Launching it in time for 1 June felt like a small celebration of the season ahead - a nod to the quieter pace that winter brings to the valley. The release of this scent also marked for us the first of our new labels - paying homage to both the past and the current.

This month also brought some beautiful partnership moments. We joined forces with Canopy Camping, giving their hosts exclusive access to Bit by Bit products to help elevate the small, memorable touches that make a stay feel special. We deepened our connection with Rural Women New Zealand, and are now proudly featured in the Rural Women’s Collective - a community that feels very close to home for us. And perhaps most special of all, we confirmed our partnership with Shepherdess Magazine, where Bit by Bit will appear in the Taputapu Purotu │ Lovely Things section of both the Winter and Spring editions.

That Shepherdess partnership carries a story of its own. Back in 2024, a good friend and I attended the Shepherdess Muster in Motu - a weekend away to recharge, connect, and be surrounded by incredible rural women. Bit by Bit had sponsored the hand soap in the bathrooms that year. I’m not someone who usually remembers brand names… but this one stuck. The scent, the feel, the ethos - it all landed. We became supporters from that moment on. What we didn’t know then was that two years later, we’d become the new custodians of the brand. To now be featured in Shepherdess feels like a full‑circle moment we never could have scripted.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working hard on our Body Lotion, which is now on batch five of testing. The feedback so far has been incredibly positive, and we’re on track to release it within the next six weeks. It’s been a labour of love - refining texture, feel, absorption, and scent - and we’re excited to share it soon.

Life at home has been full too. We ticked off a long‑awaited bucket list item with new concrete poured and building work underway - finally giving Cam more shed space he’s been dreaming of. Winter sport is in full swing, which means Monday and Friday nights turf‑side for the twins’ hockey. The warm wrap‑ups are officially back in rotation, and the sideline chats are becoming their own kind of ritual.

On the farm, things have slowed as they always do at this time of year. We’re preserving feed, preserving energy, and quietly preparing for calving and lambing just around the corner. Winter has its own rhythm - steady, grounding, and necessary.

Community has been at the heart of this month too. We hosted the wonderful Philippa Cameron as a guest speaker at the Uruti Community Centre — a night filled with stories, laughter, and connection. And planning is well underway for The North Face: An Exhibition of Taranaki Artists, along with a book launch to open the exhibition - 'You cleared the land, looked after the land' celebrating a true Uruti character John Jury. It’s shaping up to be something truly special for not only the Jury family but our whole community.

As we close out month two, we’re grateful - for the support, the conversations, the reviews, the partnerships, and the sense of community that continues to grow around Bit by Bit. We’re excited for what month three will bring, and we’re proud to be building something that feels both grounded in its roots and full of possibility.

Until next month -

Cam, Steph, Danielle + Mackenzie x
